Down-to-Earth IPv6
The annual IPv6 Summit is Australia's premier IPv6 event, with two days of international and local presentations, plus an optional one-day hands-on IPv6 Workshop at dedicated training premises. This Summit, the largest yet, had a fantastic lineup of global experts in multiple streams, including: Latif Ladid, Hiroshi Esaki, Tony Hill, Ron Broersma, Geoff Huston, Simon Hackett, Michael Biber, Paul Ducklin, Lawrence Hughes, Silvia Hagen, and more.
This is the sixth Australian IPv6 Summit, and with that number, it's got to be a special one. We're no longer counting stars and discussing potential: it's all around us now. IPv6 has arrived, and we're seeing the quiet beginning of an innovation revolution.
Internet Protocol Version 6 offers the world simpler networks, enhanced mobility and security, and almost unlimited addresses for the next-generation Internet. Of course IPv6 can offer us cost savings and enhanced productivity, but now we're finding out that it can do much more. Features like the ease of management and extraordinary abundance of addresses (so limited with IPv4) have opened up whole new green-field possibilities.
The 2005 Summit discussed global IPv6 preparation... the 2006 Summit looked at the IPv6 business case... the 2007 Summit demonstrated IPv6 at work... the 2008 Summit found IPv6 common ground... the 2009 Summit checked out the bottom line...
Now, in 2010, innovative IPv6 has come down to earth!
