IPv6Now Chosen to Host Australasian Node of gogoNET Social Network

16 December 2009: IPv6Now NEWS RELEASE

IPv6 Now Pty Ltd and gogo6 inc. announce the launch of the Australasian node of gogoNET (gogoNET.gogo6.com), the social network for IPv6 professionals.

The Australasian node of gogoNET is proudly hosted by IPv6Now's NOC in Sydney, offering services to Australia, New Zealand, Oceania and South-East Asia. It provides 6in4 and 4in6 tunneling, a collection of tools to test and debug IPv6 networks, and Freenet6, a free IPv6 connectivity service for members to start using IPv6 today.

Tony Hill, IPv6Now's Managing Director, said "This is a resounding endorsement of our experience with IPv6, which is so internationally respected that we are one of only four locations around the world to provide regional gogoNet connectivity."

gogoNET's purpose is to provide the knowledge necessary to help professionals answer the fundamental question: "How should I roll out IPv6 in my network?" It also includes:
  • Thousands of v6 professionals from around the world to share learning
  • Over 50 native-language country groups for professionals
  • Hundreds of blogs and discussions on technical and business issues
  • A filtered indexed IPv6 library of 150 videos, 400 presentations and 100 docs and books
"We built gogoNET because we believe participating in a professional social network is the best way to acquire the knowledge necessary to implement IPv6," said Bruce Sinclair, gogo6 CEO. "If you think about it, it's easy to find information on IPv6 but not knowledge. gogoNET is a collection of professionals with different IPv6 knowledge - tapping into this allows people to make sense of the information out there."

Latif Ladid, President of the IPv6 Forum, said, "gogoNET goes beyond web 2.0/3.0 - it promotes the use of the end to end Internet model, using IPv6 to generate the next generation web apps to open greater innovation in social networking, especially for the mobile networking world in the making."

"IPv6Now's capabilities are enhanced by our relationship with gogoNET," said Tony Hill, IPv6Now MD, "which extends to our role as the sole supplier and supporter in Australia for the world-famous gogoSERVER™ tunnel device."

IPv6Now has recently used its specialist expertise to build the only publicly-available Australian IPv6 testbed network, VIC6, which allows businesses and organisations to take full advantage of new IPv6 technology to build international competitiveness.

Background to IPv6:
The current Internet Protocol version 4 is the foundation of the global Internet. But it has a use-by date: 90% of the addresses in IPv4 have already been allocated. IPv6 replaces IPv4 - it has near-unlimited addresses, easier management, high mobility and better security. Infrastructure built upon IPv6 today will be efficient and innovative far into the future.

Background to IPv6Now:
IPv6 Now Pty Ltd supplies commercial services to business and government, covering all aspects of IPv6, including strategic advice, technical training, network design and testing, and dual-stack hosting for websites, domain names and email. IPv6Now also provides scaleable, reliable, business-grade access to the IPv6 Internet, with guaranteed service level agreements.
